　BBC200冊の1位（ガーディアン千冊でもある）。
　フロドの旅は、信頼できる仲間たちが一緒でうれしい。ブリー村までは一週間ほどの行程だが、危険と苦労がいっぱい。出発から裂け谷まで一月ほどの旅だったが、苦難の連続でよくぞたどり着いたという感じ。

トム・ボンバディルや、踊る仔馬亭の亭主が明るく善意の人でいい。馳夫もなんだかかっこいいし。おもしろかった。

　Q なぜ冒険は秋に始まるのだろう。春先に出発すれば、苦労が少なそうだけど。

7/9 1992年版p.156「おらが何を望んでいるか、それは自分でもはっきりわからねえです。だがおらは一期終えるまでに何かしなきゃならねえだ」byサム。一番の（?）英雄はサムだとトールキンは言った。

 The Lord of the Rings is one of the most famous fantasy books. These fantastic and majestic masterpieces were published from 1954 to 1955 and made a big impact on writers around the world. Also, the same title movies released until now. I have read these Japanese books and watched the English movie released in 2001 when I was in junior high school. This story is based on European legends and Norse mythology. Some characters use magic, fight fantastic creatures like dragons, and we can enjoy these exciting journeys.
I think we can learn the diversity from this story. In the story world, Elfs and Dwarfs hated each other. However, they can form good relationships and make understanding at the end of this story. This episode probably connects with WW II, because the author wrote this story during the war. So, I think it is valuable to read. But this book has one problem. The book is too long, and reading all the stories is hard, like a Harry Potter series. So, I recommend the movie for those who haven’t afforded time to read.
 The movie is also fantastic. It uses great CG techniques and expresses the magical world. I watched the only first movie, so it is only 1 out of 3. I think actors' express emotions great, and costumes are in detail. However, I don’t like this movie’s plot. It can’t appeal to Hobbits’ feelings when they could live safely. Mostly, Sam’s personality doesn’t be expressed deeply. I know the Hobbits’ village part is not exciting, so the film director didn’t pay attention. But commonly, their lives and Sam’s dreams are the foundation of these stories. Sam is one of the most important characters! So, if you have a lot of time, I recommend the book versions.

名作だと思う。きっと、ドキドキする冒険の旅に連れて行ってくれる作品。ただ、ファンタジーというジャンルは今の自分には合わないらしい。まとめて全巻借りたが1巻のホビットの特徴を語った序章で断念…子供の心には戻れないのかな…
