例えば「延暦寺」では（寺院）Enryakuji Temple. The head temple of the Tendai sect, located in Mt. Hiei, northeast of Kyoto. Was founded in 788 by a priest named Saichou. Produced many great priests in the early Kamakura period, such as Hounen, Shinran, Dougen, Eisai, and Nichiren. Was almost completely destroyed by Oda Nobunaga in 1571. Its main hall, named ‘Konpon chuu-dou’, and several calligraphies are National Treasures. Was designated a World Heritage Site in 1994. (天台宗）
「入り鉄砲にで女」A rigorous inspection on ‘incoming guns and outgoing woman’ The Tokugawa shogunate prohibited feudal lords from bringing guns into Edo. Also, the shogunate forced feudal lords’ wives and children to live in Edo, as a kind of hostage, and pprohibited them from going back to their homeland, as a measure against possible rebellion.
