What is needed beyond that is the Church, practising the Christian life in worship and action in the world. Knowing the absolute God gives us in two directions: to courage and to humbleness. Faith in God gives us the courage to squarely to face our human predicament and the depth of our sin. Divine awareness requires us to become humble before God in our judgement and action. Knowing the ultimate being makes us realise our fragile, fragmented and temporary nature. One of the characteristics of Japanese culture is its co-operativeness.Modernization forces human begins to become self-reliant individuals by the destruction of the old community. MOdern democracy and theological relativism help make possible the reproduction of a Calvinism theocracy on earth as democracy itself.
